Sourdough Date Loaf

Sourdough Date Loaf

Combine the following four ingredients and leave at room temperature overnight:

1/2 c. starter
1 c. evaporated milk
2 tbsp. sugar
1-1/2 c. flour

Mix together and then add to the overnight sourdough mixture the following:

1/2 c. quick cooking rolled oats
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon or allspice
2 eggs, beaten

Finally add:

1 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. walnut pieces

Stir well, spoon into well greased pan about 5x9x2-1/2″ deep; place walnuts on top and let stand for 1 hr. Bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees F. for about 1 hr. Let cool in pan for a few minutes before placing on cooling rack.
