Renovation of Strawberry Patches

Have you been considering renovating your strawberry patch? It is worth doing if the patch is weed and disease free.

After harvest is finished, mow off the plants about 1 inch above the crowns.Using your rototiller, narrow the rows to 12 to 14 inches wide. Remove some of the plants within the rows to allow space for new runners. If you allow up to 3/4 ” of soil to cover the plants, you will help stimulate fresh vigorous rooting. Side-dress 4 to 5 lbs. of HyrBrix Fruit and Berry Fertilizer ( 6-8-9 + Ca9+S10) per 100 foot of row at this time. You could also use Calcium Nitrate if you have it on hand.
